With electrified vehicles growing in popularity, more and more customers are going to want information on the charging options available to them. Whether their primary need is for home charging or public charging, your knowledge and advice is going to be a valuable asset.

In this section, we'll be addressing the charging of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and All-Electric Vehicles (BEV). Hybrid vehicles cannot be plugged in and will not be covered here.

CHARGING AT HOME

Ford offers several charging options, each with different charging speeds. The speed depends on:

  • The voltage of the source
  • The amperage that the charging cord can carry
  • The capacity (size) of the battery receiving the charge

PUBLIC CHARGING

As EVs become more popular, the public charging locations to support them are also expanding. There is a wide variety of public charging alternatives available, so have peace-of-mind knowing how to find a nearby charger. Ford has several valuable tools available in the FordPass app as well within the EV itself.

FINDING CHARGING STATIONS

Ford is providing its All-Electric Vehicle customers with complimentary access to North America's largest charging network - the FordPass Charging Network - for easy pay-as-you-visit charging, ensuring a hassle-free experience. The FordPass Charging Network is comprised of over 13,500 charging stations (approximately 40,000 plugs) and growing from multiple established charging providers, making public chargers as common as some pharmacies and popular coffee chains.

FORD ALL-ELECTRIC ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE

In the event that a Ford All-Electric vehicle runs out of charge, Roadside Assistance can be summoned using the FordPass App or by calling Ford Roadside Assistance directly at 1‑800-241‑3673. The driver can then decide to have the vehicle towed to one of three locations within a 35‑mile radius - all covered by Ford Roadside Assistance:

  • To their residence (assuming they have a home charger)
  • To the nearest public charger
  • To an EV-Certified Ford Dealership

Complimentary for up to 5 years/​60,000 miles under the Ford Roadside Assistance Program. Whichever comes first. See dealer for details.

  • Find chargers nearby (when equipped with Navigation system)
  • Check vehicle charge status
  • Determine range based on weather and driving characteristics
  • Receive alerts when charge status is getting low
